Finance Director

Grafton Banks Finance Executive Search in Sussex is assisting an extremely successful and industry respected, rapidly expanding SME in East Sussex with the recruitment of a commercial and strategic Finance Director on an exclusive basis.

Reporting to the CEO and managing a small finance team as well as two operational staff, the Finance Director will be responsible and accountable for the full financial strategy, risk management operations and guidance of the business as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team.

Primary responsibility is the planning, implementing, managing and controlling of all financial related activities including the development of financial and operational strategies. This includes direct responsibility for accounting, finance, forecasting, strategic planning, banking and investor relations.  In addition, you will review and define the metrics that govern the finance of the business and encourage a continuous improvement ethic that is supported by KPI’s introducing checks and balances where required.  You will work with the Senior Leadership Team on setting, communicating & executing on the company strategy and 5-year plan. Although the role has a “hands on” accounting element as is the culture of working within an SME environment, this role is far more focussed on adding commercial and strategic value and driving increased revenue and performance.

 

The following experience is required in order to apply:

 

Experienced within a product based environment such as manufacturing, retail, distribution or FMCG. Knowledge and experience of banking facilities, including loans and asset based lending. Be used to operating in a business with restricted working capital, where cash flow is paramount to business risks and all decision making. Confident navigator of accounting systems including implementation and system integration. Experience of reviewing business contracts. Experience of working within an SME rather than a large corporate would be an advantage, although not essential. Experience of being a current FD or CFO, ideally also with experience of overall responsibility for IT

 

This business has a clear plan to double revenue over the next 5 years and now requires its first Finance Director to work with the rest of the leadership team to achieve this ambition. Candidates will need to be located within easy commuting distance of East Sussex as it is expected that the position will be mostly site based, although there is some flexibility on remote working. A salary of £90,000pa plus is on offer as well as a benefits package and for the right candidate an opportunity to discuss part time hours.
